What changes when the people making the decisions expect to live with them for the rest of their working lives.
Family ownership is often described as a constraint. In practice it removes one: there is no external clock forcing a decision before it is ready, and no expectation that the group must be sold to be considered successful.
It also concentrates consequence. The name on the company is the name on the decision.
